First-time filmmaker insurance pitfalls: GL vs. WC, and how to avoid them?
Hey everyone, I'm a VFX artist usually brought in later in a project, but I'm trying to produce my first short film right now. It's a sci-fi piece with some practical effects and green screen work, shot primarily on an ARRI with a set of Atlas anamorphic lenses. I'm hitting the stage of figuring out insurance, and frankly, it's a bit overwhelming. The general liability and worker's comp side of things is where I keep getting stuck. For those of you who've been through it, which of these two mistakes do you see first-time filmmakers making more often? And what's the single most impactful, practical step I can take to avoid that specific problem right from the start?
