Strategies for Integrating Cue Sheet Creation into VFX Workflow?

Hey everyone,

I'm Yuki, a VFX artist, and I'm genuinely curious about how others handle cue sheets. On my current project, a sci-fi short where we're pushing a lot of digital extensions and creature work (shot on an ALEXA Mini LF, mostly), the cue sheet always feels like this huge, daunting task that only gets serious attention right before final delivery. It inevitably turns into a rushed, stressful experience trying to make sure every single asset, every shot (especially those with specific render layers or compositing passes) is correctly documented.

I've tried doing a rough pass during dailies, but that usually gets outdated pretty quickly as shots evolve. I've also attempted to assign cue sheet entries to individual artists as they finish their shots, but that often leads to inconsistencies in formatting or missed details. It feels like I'm constantly catching up rather than proactively building it.

How have you personally integrated the creation of the Cue Sheet into your post-production workflow to avoid it becoming a last-minute crisis before delivery? Any insights or process tips would be incredibly helpful.
