Gaffer (Feature Film)
Hey everyone, Mei-Lin here. We're looking for a sharp Gaffer for an upcoming independent feature film. It's a character-driven drama, with some thriller elements, set in modern day Toronto, so we're aiming for a grounded, atmospheric look that really enhances the story. We need someone who can translate our DP's vision into practical lighting solutions and lead a small but efficient lighting team on set. Key responsibilities include collaborating closely with the DP in pre-production, managing all lighting equipment, overseeing power distribution, and ensuring safety on set. We're looking for a Gaffer with at least 2-3 years experience on narrative features or significant short films, someone with a strong understanding of various lighting techniques, and the ability to problem-solve quickly. You’ll need to bring your own basic toolkit, though all major lighting packages will be provided by production. Please send over your resume and a link to your reel highlighting your gaffing work. Shoot dates are approximately late September to mid-October, five-day weeks, 10-12 hour days. Compensation is $300-$500/day, depending on experience. We'll be based in and around Toronto. Looking forward to hearing from you!
