Gaffer for Sci-Fi Drama Short, Brooklyn

Hey filmmakers, Aiden here. I'm helping staff a really cool upcoming independent production, a sci-fi drama short film shooting soon in Brooklyn. It's an intimate, character-driven story with some really unique visual opportunities, exploring themes of memory and connection. We're looking for a Gaffer who can bring a creative eye and technical expertise to help us realize our vision. You'll be working closely with our DP to sculpt some beautiful and atmospheric lighting setups. Key responsibilities include designing and implementing all lighting plans, managing equipment, and overseeing the lighting crew. Ideally, you’ll have access to a basic lighting package (HMI, LED, stands, stingers) or know reliable rental sources. A reel or portfolio demonstrating your lighting work is a big plus, even if your experience is primarily on student or micro-budget projects. We're open to all experience levels; passion and a good attitude are just as important. Approximate shoot dates are 3-4 days in late May, with a few prep days beforehand. Hours will be standard 10-12s. We’ll provide meals, craft services, and transportation within Brooklyn. This is a deferred compensation project (backend percentage) as we're submitting to festivals with distribution potential. Looking forward to hearing from you!
