Gaffer (or Best Boy/Girl Electric) for Doc Shoot
Hey all, I'm Sierra, a Hair Dept. Head here in LA, working on an upcoming independent documentary project and we're looking to bring on a Gaffer or Best Boy/Girl Electric. This doc explores the unique cultures and histories of several lesser known communities around Los Angeles. We're aiming for a naturalistic, intimate feel, capturing authentic moments, so a keen eye for lighting existing environments and enhancing them subtly is key. We'll be shooting mostly practical locations, often with available light, but will need someone adept at shaping and augmenting it to create compelling visuals. Responsibilities include working closely with our DP to execute their vision, managing our small lighting package, and ensuring all electrical safety protocols are met. We're looking for someone with experience on documentary or indie film sets (any experience level, really just looking for good attitude and willingness to learn and contribute). Please have your own basic kit (stingers, diffusion, etc.) and knowledge of LED panels and small HMI units. Shoot dates are approximately late July/early August, 10-hour days. We will provide a small lighting package (Astera tubes, Aputure 300ds/600ds) and transportation to/from locations. This is a flat rate of $250/day. Send over your resume and a link to your reel (if you have one, not required) highlighting any relevant work. Let's make something cool!
