Locations for Documentary

Documentary Locations New York, NY senior Budget: $100-200/day

Hey filmmakers, I'm a Location Manager for an independent documentary series shooting in New York City, and I need a talented, senior-level Location Scout to join our team. We're working on a compelling series, intimate and character-driven, exploring overlooked corners of the city. We need someone with a keen eye and a solid understanding of city logistics to help us find unique and visually interesting spaces that align with our narrative. Your main responsibilities will include conducting extensive research, scouting potential locations, taking detailed photos and videos, and compiling comprehensive reports. You'll work closely with me, the director, and the cinematography team to ensure we're finding the perfect backdrops. This is not a "drive by" job, we're looking for someone who can think critically about how a space functions for a film crew. Required experience: You should have at least 5 years of dedicated location scouting experience on documentary or narrative projects in NYC. A strong portfolio demonstrating your ability to identify and document diverse locations is essential. Familiarity with permit processes and city regulations is a huge plus. You'll need access to your own reliable transportation (preferably a car, but excellent public transit navigation skills are also viable) and a professional-grade camera for scouting photos. Project dates are roughly September 3rd to October 15th, with potential for extension. Expect 8-10 hour days. We're offering $100-200/day, depending on experience. We'll cover any necessary travel expenses incurred during scouting. Looking forward to seeing your work!
