Locations for Documentary

Documentary Locations Los Angeles, CA senior Budget: $1000-1500/day

Hey Los Angeles film community, I'm helping a colleague find a top-notch Senior Location Manager for an upcoming independent documentary feature. This isn't your typical talking-heads doc, it's a visually driven, character-focused story with a bit of a quirky edge, exploring forgotten historical sites around California. We're looking for someone who can not only secure amazing and unique locations but also handle all the logistics and permitting with grace. You'll be working closely with the director and production designer to find stunning backdrops that truly tell our story. Key responsibilities include extensive location scouting, negotiating access and fees, managing permits and insurance, coordinating utilities, and overseeing location-related crew. We need someone with a strong portfolio of successfully managed feature-length or complex documentary locations. Knowledge of local ordinances across various Southern California municipalities is a huge plus. Please share your reel or a detailed list of your most relevant credits. The shoot is planned for late summer, early fall, roughly 6 weeks with some prep beforehand. Compensation is $1000-1500 per day, dependent on experience. We'll provide mileage, per diems, and all necessary production insurance.
