Locations Scout/Manager, Indie NYC Short Film

Short Film Locations New York, NY any Budget: $200-400/day

Hey everyone, I'm a Rigging Gaffer on an exciting independent short film shooting in NYC this summer, and we're looking for a dedicated Locations Scout/Manager to join our crew. This is a dramatic short, exploring themes of resilience and urban isolation, with a visually driven aesthetic that will really rely on authentic, evocative backdrops. We're aiming for a grittier, naturalistic feel, so finding unique, real-world spaces is key. Your main responsibilities will include scouting and securing diverse locations across the five boroughs, managing permits and access, coordinating with property owners, and ensuring all location logistics run smoothly during production. This means handling everything from initial research and photography to being on set for any location-related needs. We're open to all experience levels, from eager newcomers to seasoned pros. What's most important is a strong eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and a solid understanding of navigating NYC's permitting process (or a quick learner). While you won't need to bring specific gear, having your own transportation (or being really good with public transit) is a huge plus. A portfolio or examples of past scouting work (even personal photography projects) would be great to see. Shoot dates are approximately late July/early August, roughly 5-7 days of principal photography, with prep work starting sooner. Hours will be typical production days, varying based on location needs. We're offering a paid rate of $200-400 per day, depending on experience, with meals and transportation provided during shoot days. This is a chance to make a real impact on a compelling story and build some great connections.
