Senior DP, Independent Doc (Volunteer)

Documentary Camera New York, NY senior Budget: No pay (passion project)

Hey, fellow filmmakers. I'm putting out a call for a skilled Director of Photography for an independent documentary project, a passion film exploring the underground art scene of NYC. This isn't your typical talking-head doc, we're aiming for a grittier, more observational style, really capturing the energy of these artists. Think raw, intimate, and visually compelling storytelling. We need someone with a strong eye, a talent for natural light, and a commitment to cinematic honesty. Your main responsibilities will involve collaborating closely with the director to establish the visual language, leading camera operations, and ensuring a high-quality aesthetic throughout. We're looking for someone with extensive experience in documentary filmmaking, a reel that showcases your ability to tell stories through compelling imagery, and a strong understanding of various camera systems. You'll need to provide your own camera package (we're flexible on specific gear but looking for something professional, 4K capable). We'll cover transportation and meals on shoot days. Anticipated shoot dates are TBD, likely in late summer, with flexible weekend and evening availability. This is a volunteer position, a true passion project, but it's a chance to build something impactful and add a unique piece to your reel. Looking forward to seeing your work!
