Production Design for Short Film

Hey filmmakers, I'm Garrett, a Prop Master working on an exciting sci-fi short and we're looking for a talented Production Designer to join our team in Los Angeles. This is an independent production with a unique visual style, blending gritty realism with subtle futuristic elements. Think 'Ex Machina' meets indie drama, focusing on character and atmosphere as much as spectacle. We need someone who can help bring our world to life through set dressing, props, and overall aesthetic. Key responsibilities include collaborating closely with the Director to develop the visual concept, sourcing or creating set pieces, and managing the art department on set. This is an entry-level position, but a strong portfolio or reel demonstrating your eye for design and practical skills is essential. While we don't expect you to own an entire warehouse of gear, any personal aesthetic resources or contacts for finding specific items would be a huge plus. We prefer candidates residing in the LA area. Shoot dates are tentatively set for late July / early August, likely five days over two weekends, with pre-production work starting sooner. Hours will be typical for a short film, so be prepared for some long days. We'll provide necessary tools, materials, and a fantastic, collaborative crew. Compensation is deferred, with a backend percentage. Let's make something cool together!
