Senior Doc Director, New Orleans

Looking for an experienced Director to lead an independent documentary project here in New Orleans. This film explores the vibrant, often hidden, second line culture and its pivotal role in the city's identity, delving into its history and contemporary significance. We're aiming for an evocative, intimate tone, capturing the true spirit and resilience of the community. Your main gig will be guiding the creative vision, working closely with the Cinematographer and editorial team, and ensuring a compelling narrative. This isn't a studio project, so we need someone who can wear a few hats, collaborating effectively with a small, dedicated crew. Must have a strong background in directing independent documentaries, with a knack for storytelling that feels authentic and deeply human. Please, show us your reel and tell us about your experience managing doc teams from development through post production. Experience with verité style shooting and navigating sensitive community dynamics is a big plus. While we supply camera and sound packages, any specialized gear you can bring to the table would be a bonus, but not required. Shoot dates are approximate, probably spring 2024, with flexible hours, often determined by events. We'll handle travel within the city. Compensation is negotiable, ready to discuss based on experience.
