Solo Operator Audio: What are the absolute must-avoids for beginners?
Hey everyone, as a Producer, I'm usually focused on the bigger picture, but I've been diving into some solo operating for a passion project, a short documentary on local artisans. It's just me and my ALEXA Mini, and I'm really trying to elevate the production value. I've also been reading up, and one guide really stressed that sound is more critical than image. I'm taking that to heart. I've got my MKH 416, a Track E, and I'm trying to be diligent. My main concern is, what are the most common audio pitfalls that beginners (especially solo operators like me) tend to fall into? And more importantly, how can I practically avoid them when I’ve got to frame, focus, and manage audio all at once? What should I be hyper-aware of during a shoot?
