Applying 'Prep-Ahead' Beyond G&E: How Do You Start Fast?
Hey everyone,
I'm Antoine, a camera op usually running an ALEXA Mini LF or a V-RAPTOR XL kit. I've been working on a series of promos and commercials lately where we've implemented a system for our Best Boys to prep the next day's gear logs (checking off our amaran 150c and LS 600d Pro units, lenses, flags, etc.) the evening before. It's been a game changer for getting rolling quickly each morning. The ACs love it too; they can just focus on the camera builds (usually a KOMODO or an FX9 for smaller setups) without hunting for missing items.
This got me wondering: beyond G&E, how have you all successfully instilled this kind of 'prep-ahead' mindset in other departments to boost efficiency right from call time? I'm thinking about sound, art, even hair/makeup. What specific strategies have you seen work? I'm always looking for ways to streamline our starts.
