Baffled by Volume Workflow - What's the Biggest Newbie Blunder?

Hey everyone, Terrence here. I've been working as a DIT for a while now, mostly on more traditional sets with ALEXA LF and Cooke S7s. We're about to tackle our first big LED volume project and I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed, especially after some initial tests. We were using the ALEXA 35 and trying to light it with a couple of SkyPanel S60-Cs, but things just felt...off. It's like we were so focused on the tech, we kinda forgot how to make it look good. We even tried pushing some Forza 720B’s through the volume's reflections, but it felt like chasing our tails.

My gut tells me a lot of people probably make similar mistakes when they first jump into shooting on a volume, specifically around lighting and composition. What's the most common pitfall you've seen beginners fall into, totally forgetting that fundamental filmmaking rules still absolutely apply?
