1st AD Role & AI: Moving Beyond Manual Scheduling?
Hey everyone, Sofia Reyes here, working as a Location Scout. I've been thinking a lot about the shifts happening in production, particularly with new tech. I'm currently on a TV series that's exploring some AI tools for scheduling and logistics, and it's making me wonder about the 1st AD's role. Traditionally, they're the ultimate chess master of the schedule, moving pieces around manually. But if generative AI starts suggesting optimal shooting orders, crew movements, even anticipating delays, does that change their core function? Are they still manually building the entire thing, or are they pivoting to more of a strategic oversight? Are 1st ADs spending more time evaluating and refining AI outputs rather than creating from scratch? Just genuinely curious how everyone sees this evolving.
