On-Set Hierarchy & Reeltime Viewer: How Are Things Changing?
Hey everyone, Priyanka Gill here. I'm currently line producing a moderately sized independent feature, and we've been using Pomfort Reeltime Viewer for real-time monitoring on personal devices. It's incredibly convenient for getting eyes on takes quickly, and stakeholders love it. However, I’ve started noticing some subtle shifts in how information flows and even how decisions are made on set.
Historically, the DIT or video village was a central hub. Now, with the DP, director, and even producers potentially viewing on their iPads from various corners of the set, I'm wondering how this impacts hierarchy. Is it empowering faster decisions or leading to more disconnected feedback? Are people feeling more or less involved? I'm genuinely curious about others' experiences. Is this making communication better or worse, and how are you navigating it?
