Low-Budget LUT Workflow: Indie Feature - Help a Grip Out!
Hey everyone, Chris here, working as a Key Grip on an indie feature right now. We're shooting on an ALEXA Mini, and things are looking great on set but post-production is... tight, budget-wise. We don’t have the funds for dedicated DITs or expensive color management suites.
My question is, what are your go-to, cost-effective strategies for building a robust LUT pipeline? I'm talking about managing our show LUTs and CDLs from dailies through to final grade. We need something solid that won't fall apart but also won't break the bank. We're trying to keep things streamlined in production, but I'm thinking ahead to the back end. Have any of you found good, freeware or affordable solutions that genuinely work for this kind of scenario? What’s your practical advice for a grip stressing about the color pipeline?
