Location Managers: How have AI Script Analysis and Sustainability Mandates Changed Your Workflow?
Hey everyone, I'm Elena, a producer currently prepping a mid-budget drama. We're in the early stages, scouting some fantastic spots (yesterday we were out with the ALEXA Mini, testing some tricky lighting with an M18) but I’ve been thinking about some of the bigger industry shifts. I’ve heard a lot about AI script analysis becoming more common, and obviously, sustainability mandates are a huge topic now. I’m wondering how these developments have actually trickled down to the day-to-day job of a location manager in the last couple of years.
From my end, I'm trying to be proactive in finding 'greener' solutions and considering how to optimize our shoot days. I know a lot of the location scouts I work with are incredibly resourceful, but I haven't specifically asked them how these trends have impacted their process. Are location managers getting AI-generated reports that influence scouting choices? Are you getting more specific directives about power sources or waste management from production companies earlier in the process? For my project specifically, we're looking at some remote locations that might present unique challenges on the sustainability front.
What are your experiences? How have AI script analysis and sustainability mandates changed your role?
