Director (Volunteer) for Sci-Fi Short

Hey fellow filmmakers, I'm a Script Supervisor working on an exciting independent short film project and we're looking for a passionate director to bring our vision to life. This is a volunteer, passion-project commitment, perfect for someone looking to build their reel or gain experience. Our film is a contained sci-fi thriller, think 'Cube' meets 'The Twilight Zone' with a hint of psychological horror. It's an intense, character-driven story set in a claustrophobic environment, offering a fantastic opportunity for creative visual storytelling and strong performances. We're aiming for a dark, atmospheric tone with a focus on suspense and building dread. You'd be responsible for guiding the creative vision, working closely with the Cinematographer, Actors, and department heads to execute the script. Key responsibilities include preparing shot lists, working with actors on performance, and ensuring the overall artistic integrity of the film. We're looking for someone with a strong visual sense and a clear understanding of dramatic pacing. Experience level is open, whether you're seasoned or an emerging talent. A strong reel or portfolio showcasing your cinematic sensibilities and directorial style is definitely preferred. We're not expecting you to bring any gear, but your artistic input and leadership are essential. Shoot dates are tentatively planned for 3-4 days over two weekends in early to mid-August, primarily in Los Angeles. Meals and craft services will be provided on set. We're a dedicated, enthusiastic crew, and we're excited to collaborate with a director who shares our passion for compelling genre filmmaking.
