Senior Director, Impact Doc

We're looking for an experienced Director for an independent documentary about the overlooked mental health crisis in the hospitality industry. This isn't just an exposé, we're aiming for a nuanced, character-driven story that highlights resilience and offers solutions. The tone will be empathetic and hopeful, but unflinching when necessary. You'll be responsible for creative vision, guiding our small crew, and working closely with our cinematographer and subjects to craft compelling narratives. Candidates must have a strong portfolio demonstrating leadership on documentary features or high-end episodic docu-series. Experience with sensitive subject matter and a proven ability to build trust with subjects is crucial. We expect you to bring your own gear, though we’ll provide access to a production office and support staff as needed. Please have at least 5 years of professional directing experience in documentary film. Shoot dates are approximately late October through early December, primarily in Los Angeles, roughly 10-hour days. We anticipate some travel around California.
