Territory-by-Territory vs. Aggregator: Finding the Tipping Point for Small Films

Hey everyone, I'm a cinematographer by trade, but I've recently been more involved with the distribution side of a few smaller, indie narrative shorts and features we've shot. We've been trying to navigate the sales landscape, considering a careful territory-by-territory approach for maximum reach and revenue. It's a lot of work, though, especially with limited resources.

My question is, at what point does that ideal, complex territory-by-territory sales strategy become impractical for a smaller film? When does the effort outweigh the potential gains, making a simpler 'all rights' deal with a single aggregator the smarter, more realistic choice? I'm talking about films that might have festival play, but aren't necessarily lighting up the awards circuit or boasting huge names. Is there a metric, a budget threshold, or even a 'number of territories' point where the switch makes sense?

Looking for your advice and experiences on this.
