Practical Lighting Pitfalls - What are the big ones?
Hey everyone,
Omar here, Steadicam op out of Atlanta. Thinking back to my early days, especially on those smaller narrative shorts or even some corporate stuff shot on a FX6, practical lighting always threw me for a loop. I've gotten better over the years, but I still see newer folks struggling with it.
I’m curious, what do you all think are the most common pitfalls beginners fall into when it comes to practicals? I'm talking specifically about things like selecting the right bulbs (color temp, output), understanding proper dimming capabilities (flicker, color shift), or dealing with CRI/TLCI issues when mixing with something like an amaran 150c or a SkyPanel S60-C.
What were your biggest learning curves, and what advice would you give to avoid those common headaches?
Thanks in advance for any insights!
