Minors on Shoestring Indie Set: Low-Cost Compliance & Safety?

Hey everyone, as a Makeup Department Head, I'm facing a new challenge on my current micro-budget indie film. We've got a couple of young actors, and I'm really trying to navigate the complexities of managing their scheduling, on-set schooling requirements, and all the legal/safety regulations. With our extremely limited budget, hiring a dedicated child welfare worker isn't really an option right now. We've been trying to streamline breaks and shoot their scenes consecutively, but the schooling aspect is proving tough. I'm worried about both compliance and their well-being. Has anyone here found effective, low-cost solutions or clever compromises for keeping minors safe and legally compliant on set when working with next to no money? How do you manage this without breaking the bank or cutting corners on safety?
