Working with Minors on Set: Avoiding Common Pitfalls?
Hey everyone, Jess Okafor here. I'm a set decorator, and I’m currently on a project that involves a few young actors, and it's making me really think about the unique challenges of having minors on set. I've been trying to keep an eye out for potential issues, making sure their designated areas are clear and safe, and just generally trying to be aware of their needs. But frankly, I haven't worked on many productions with kids, and I’m worried about what I might be missing. Based on your observations or experiences, what are some of the most common mistakes or oversights new filmmakers make when dealing with minors on set, especially regarding scheduling, schooling, or safety protocols? What's one critical piece of advice you'd give to avoid these pitfalls?
