Adapting Act Two: Writing Scenes Out of Order for Momentum?

Hey everyone,

I'm currently outlining a new thriller and I've hit a familiar Act Two wall. I'm trying to keep the energy up, and I recently came across an idea (not in a specific guide, just something someone mentioned) about writing Act Two scenes out of order to build momentum and avoid getting bogged down chronologically.

Usually, I'm a pretty linear writer, following my beat sheet religiously. But I'm intrigued by the idea of jumping to the big set pieces or character breakthroughs first, then filling in the connective tissue. I've tried it a little on my current project, tackling a pivotal chase sequence and a confrontational scene, and it did feel invigorating. However, I’m worried about maintaining continuity and character arcs.

So, my question for you all is: How have you adapted or personalized formal screenwriting structures, especially for Act Two, to fit your own creative process? Do any of you deliberately write scenes out of order, and if so, what are your strategies for making it work?
