Reward Fulfillment Costs - How do you make it work?
Hey everyone,
I'm Luc, a Steadicam op usually wrangling an AMIRA or a V-RAPTOR XL on jobs. I'm looking at trying to crowdfund a passion project, a short film I've been developing. It's a sci-fi piece with some tricky practical effects. We've got a tight budget for production, think shooting on a C70 with a few Forza 500 IIs and perhaps a couple of Titan Tubes.
My real head-scratcher right now is reward fulfillment. I've been doing some calculations, and with shipping, packaging, and the actual cost of making the rewards (like custom posters or even digital downloads with hosting fees), it's looking like it could eat up a significant chunk, potentially 20-30% of the pledged funds. That's a huge bite out of an already lean budget.
For those of you who've successfully run crowdfunding campaigns, especially on tighter budgets, how do you manage this? What strategies have you found effective to keep those fulfillment costs down without sacrificing the quality or value of the rewards? Any insights would be massively appreciated!
