Low-Budget Pre-Production: Creative Solutions for Story Summits and Pre-Vis?

Hey everyone, Ngozi Emeka here. I'm working on a passion project, a sci-fi short, and the script is really coming together. I've been thinking a lot about the pre-production phase, especially what I've heard called 'story summits' and pre-visualization. The idea of getting everyone on the same page creatively, really nailing down the visual language before shooting, sounds incredible for efficiency and clarity.

The challenge? My budget is, shall we say, 'lean.' We're not talking about affording separate retreats for the team or shelling out for high-end previs software. So far, we've done a lot of detailed discussions over video calls and shared Pinterest boards for visual references. It's helping, but I know it's not the same as a dedicated, immersive session.

For those of you who've successfully navigated low-budget filmmaking, how do you handle collaborative pre-production and visualization when dedicated retreats or expensive software aren't an option? What are your most effective, budget-friendly strategies for achieving that unified creative vision?
