Consistency: Digital Workflows & High-Res vs. Film Era?

Hey folks, Darius here, Best Boy Electric. Been working on a few different projects lately, from a commercial with an ALEXA Mini to a short with an FX6, and the conversation about DITs and LUTs keeps coming up. I'm trying to get a handle on how this all translates to visual consistency. Back in the film days, my old man, also an electrician, said it was a more hands-on, almost intuitive thing with stock variations and processing. Now with 4K, 6K, even higher, and everything seemingly running through a DIT and their on-set LUTs, it feels like a whole different ballgame for keeping things visually consistent scene to scene, day to day. Especially with things like SkyPanel X and LS 600d Pro units having such precise control. How do you all see the process of maintaining that visual consistency differing now versus the film era, given all the digital tools and high-res capture?
