First RAW Project: Biggest Newbie Blunder?
Hey everyone, I'm Troy, a grip trying to wrap my head around the post-production side of shooting RAW. I’ve mostly worked on projects where we just shot ProRes or something equally manageable, but this current gig is shooting everything on a V-RAPTOR XL in RAW.
I’ve been reading up on the workflow, and it seems like there are a lot of ways to mess it up, especially with hardware and proxies. I’m trying to make sure I don’t recommend our editor something that ends up being a nightmare. We’re doing a short film, so it’s not massive, but I want to get it right. From your experience, what’s the single most common and costly mistake newcomers make when attempting their first RAW project? Is it really the GPU, or something else entirely?
