Screenwriting in 2026: AI & Inclusivity - How's it really different day-to-day?
Hey everyone, Ngozi here. I’m currently outlining a new pilot and finding myself wondering about something pretty big. Five years ago, I didn't think twice about certain turns of phrase or character dynamics, but now with all the talk about AI-powered script analysis and the absolute necessity for inclusive language, I feel like I'm tiptoeing a bit. I’ve tried using some online tools to check for unconscious bias in earlier drafts, which is helpful, but the feedback sometimes feels generic. I also find myself self-censoring more often, which is new. It’s making me question my initial instincts. For those of you who’ve been in the trenches for a while, how has your actual day-to-day screenwriting process changed between, say, 2021 and now? Are you approaching first drafts differently? Is the rewrite process a total overhaul? Genuinely curious to hear your experiences.
