Location Scouting for Sound with New Tech: What Are You Using?

Hey everyone,

As a motion graphics artist, I've been doing more and more pre-production lately, particularly with location scouting. We just wrapped a short corporate piece shot on an FX3, and it got me thinking. My current method for sound considerations during a scout is pretty rudimentary: quiet internal spaces, noticing traffic, or the occasional loud HVAC unit. Basically, a lot of 'listen and note'.

With all the advancements in phone apps and portable sound analysis tools, I'm curious how people are integrating new tech into their sound-specific location scouting. Are there any apps or devices you swear by for checking decibels, frequency response, or identifying potential issues before the 888 and MKH 416 even leave the truck? I'm talking about things you'd carry alongside an amaran 150c and a Pocket Cinema Camera 6K G2 on a scout. How has new technology genuinely changed or improved your approach to figuring out a location's sound characteristics, long before lighting or camera even think about a take?
