One Movement Rental: Slider, Doorway Dolly, or Gimbal?
Hey everyone, I'm hoping to get some advice on a common dilemma. I'm prepping for an indie narrative short, shooting primarily C300 Mark III, and my budget only allows for one movement rental to really elevate the look. I usually try to get by with handheld or tripod, but this project needs something more. I’ve primarily used sliders for small pushes before, and I've played with gimbals like the Ronin 2 on other shoots, but I've never really tackled something with a doorway dolly.
I'm torn between renting a good slider, a doorway dolly, or a gimbal system. We've got a few walk-and-talks, some subtle pushes towards actors, and a couple of broader tracking shots planned, mostly indoors on relatively smooth surfaces. Given I can only pick one, what's your go-to for maximizing versatility and impact? How do you guys decide?
