Hybrid Release Strategy: Day-and-Date vs. TVOD Exclusive, How Do You Decide?

Hey everyone,

I'm Terrence Cole, a DIT, and for the first time, I'm getting deeper into the distribution side of a project beyond just delivering the ProRes 4444 files. We just wrapped post on an indie feature shot mostly on an ALEXA Mini with some pickup shots on an FX3, and it looks great. Now we're looking at release strategies.

Our producers are debating between a day-and-date TVOD/AVOD launch or going with a 30-day TVOD exclusive window before hitting AVOD. My instinct was that wider availability upfront is always better, but I'm hearing arguments about maximizing that initial TVOD revenue with an exclusive window. We've got a decent festival run under our belt, if that helps context.

From your experience, what factors truly swing the needle one way or another for a film's optimal hybrid release, especially considering the current market?
