Screenwriting in 2026: How are AI analyzers and inclusive language requirements impacting our workflow?

Hey everyone,

I'm Marcus, a working director/writer, and I'm genuinely trying to get a handle on how much the screenwriting landscape has shifted. I'm deep into developing a new dramatic series right now, and the conversations keep circling back to things like 'AI script analysis' and 'inclusive language audits.'

Five years ago, it felt like my main concerns were story, character, and hitting page count. Now, I'm hearing about tools that can flag clichés or suggest dialogue changes for inclusivity. It feels like a whole new set of parameters, almost a pre-flight checklist before the script even gets read by a human.

I've dabbled with some basic spell-checkers, but I haven't really integrated any AI analysis tools into my process, nor have I specifically written with 'inclusive language audits' in mind beyond my own internal thought process. Is this actually changing anyone's day-to-day writing habits, or is it more of a post-draft polish step? How different is the job for you all now compared to, say, 2021?
