When is a Single Campaign Not Enough? Financing Complex Drone Projects

Hey everyone, Miguel Santos here. I'm a drone operator, usually working on commercials or real estate, and I'm tackling a more ambitious project with some aerial cinematography for a documentary series. My usual approach is to pitch a single, consolidated campaign to a client, covering everything from flight plans to deliverables, all bundled into one straightforward ask.

For this documentary, though, it's bigger scale, involving longer shoots, more complex logistics (think multiple remote locations, specialized payloads), and a much longer post-production timeline. I'll be flying my AMIRA and FX30, often rigged with a custom mounting system for a MKH 8060. We'll be using SkyPanel X and LS 600d Pro for some fill when needed. It's a significant investment in time and resources on my end.

I'm starting to wonder if my usual simple campaign funding model is going to cut it. Are there specific project characteristics or budget thresholds where it just makes more sense to explore a hybrid financing model, maybe mixing direct client funding with grant applications, or even looking into tax incentives? I've never gone down that road before and it feels like a whole different ballgame. When do you all decide a single campaign just won't be enough and you need to look at a broader financing stack?
