Scene-Referred: Real-World On-Set Compromises?

Hey everyone, Omar here, working as a Steadicam op. I'm trying to wrap my head around maintaining a truly Scene-Referred approach on set, especially when things go sideways. In theory, it's the gold standard, but the reality is often different.

I just finished a commercial where we shot on a V-RAPTOR XL, and the client was super particular about how things looked on their reference monitor, which honestly felt a bit off. We were already racing against the clock, and trying to explain why what they were seeing wasn't the 'final look' just ate up precious time. Another time, on an indie short with an AMIRA, our DIT's primary monitor calibration drifted, and by the time we caught it, we'd already shot a ton.

What are some of the biggest real-world challenges or compromises you've had to make when trying to maintain a Scene-Referred approach when faced with client demands, tight schedules, or unexpected monitor calibration issues?
