Solo/Small Team: Realistically Managing 24/7 Social Monitoring?
Hey everyone,
I'm a gaffer, usually wrangling an Orbiter or an M18 on sets for indie features or commercials. Lately, I've been trying to push my own short film, shot on a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6K G2 with some PavoTube II 30Xs, and the 'community engagement' aspect is a beast. I'm doing almost everything myself alongside juggling gaffing gigs that use an ALEXA Mini or an AMIRA.
I keep seeing advice, like 'monitor your social channels near 24/7' for audience growth. Honestly, with everything else involved in post-production, outreach, and day-job demands, that feels completely unsustainable. I'm already logging ridiculous hours and trying to respond to every comment and DM that comes through on Instagram or Twitter, but I'm constantly feeling behind. I’ve tried dedicating specific blocks of time, but things pop up off-schedule. It’s a lot to manage, even for channels that aren't huge yet.
For those of you who are solo filmmakers, or in very small teams, how do you genuinely approach this level of 'near 24/7' monitoring and engagement without utterly burning out? Are there specific tools or strategies that make it feasible?
