When does perfect pipeline adherence truly break down with tight deadlines & remote teams?

Hey everyone,

I'm Chris O'Brien, a Key Grip, and I'm genuinely trying to understand something. On paper, we all know the 'best practice' collaborative pipeline: perfect naming conventions, rigorous version control, clear communication channels. It sounds great in theory.

But in the real world, especially on smaller to mid-tier projects with tight deadlines and remote teams (like the web series I'm grabbing now, where we’re using a mix of a V-RAPTOR XL and a C70, with DPs uploading footage from different cities) when does that textbook, ideal pipeline actually start to crack? I'm talking about the point where the perfect system becomes more of a hindrance than a help due to time constraints, or where the 'system' just gets bypassed because someone's working at 3 AM to hit a delivery and doesn't have time to meticulously follow every step. We've tried implementing shared cloud drives with specific folder structures, but often files just end up in a 'final_final_v3_chris_edit' type names anyway when things get hectic.

For those of you who’ve lived through these kinds of projects, at what point does strict adherence to 'the rules' become unrealistic? What are the key indicators that the perfect system is about to fall apart under pressure?
