Powering the Set: Gens vs. Tie-ins in the LED/Battery Era?

Hey everyone,

I'm prepping for a narrative short (mostly interiors, some night exteriors) shooting on an ALEXA 35 with a few SkyPanel X's and an LS 1200d Pro. I'm genuinely curious about how new tech has shifted your power planning. With how efficient LEDs like these are, and the battery life on the ALEXA 35 being pretty decent, I've been wondering about generator viability.

Historically, tie-ins always felt like the only way to power a setup like this without compromises. But with quieter, more powerful portable generators coming out, are we at a point where a couple of quiet generators can realistically handle a significant lighting package, or are they still mostly for smaller setups or as emergency backup? What's your experience been? I've used smaller Honda 2000s for tiny setups, but nothing approaching this scale. Are tie-ins still the undeniable king for any substantial power draw?
