Serious about LUT pipelines - what common mistakes to avoid?
Hey everyone,
I'm Lucas Andersson, a gaffer, and I'm really trying to dial in our workflow when it comes to LUTs and CDLs. We've been doing a lot of indie narrative stuff lately, often shooting on an ALEXA Mini or a KOMODO, and using a lot of SkyPanel S60-Cs and PavoTube II 30Xs. Up until now, our LUT process has been a bit haphazard, relying on DPs or post to just 'figure it out.'
I'm finally looking to get more methodical with show LUTs, CDLs, and overall color governance from set. For those of you who've been managing this seriously for a while, what are some of the most common or impactful mistakes you've seen or made yourselves regarding LUT pipelines that new filmmakers, like us, should absolutely avoid?
