HDR Workflow Shift: Dolby Vision 2's 'Light Sense' and Bi-Directional Tone Mapping?

Hey everyone,

I'm finding myself a bit behind the curve on some of the newer HDR tech, specifically with what's being talked about around Dolby Vision 2's 'Light Sense' and bi-directional tone mapping. I'm usually focused on keeping the frame steady, but I'm trying to understand the ripple effect this might have on post-production.

I'm currently on a commercial shoot with an ARRI Mini LF, and we're delivering in HDR. My current understanding of the workflow involves careful monitoring on set and then a fairly linear pass to trim for various outputs. But these upcoming advancements sound like they could fundamentally change how we think about light, contrast, and color from capture through to display.

Are these new technologies truly a game-changer for the established HDR workflow? How do you seasoned DPs and colorists anticipate these features will alter the creative approach to lighting and grading?
