BRAW vs. ProRes RAW: NLE Workflow & Interoperability Headaches?
Hey everyone,
I'm finding myself increasingly juggling projects shot on various cameras, and the RAW format landscape is becoming a real headache. Lately, I've been shooting quite a bit on my URSA Mini Pro G2 (BRAW, naturally) for independent shorts and commercials requiring a smaller footprint than my ALEXA Mini LF, but sometimes, for faster turnaround stuff or projects handed over, I'm dealing with ProRes RAW footage from an R5 C. My own editing is mostly in Resolve, but some clients work solely in FCPX, especially when I'm just delivering dailies or raw rushes.
My primary concern is the interoperability and the specific quirks of each format when moving between Resolve and FCPX. I'm finding conversion or proxy generation to be clunky, and color consistency is a constant battle. Are there best practices I'm missing? What's your personal workflow for handling both BRAW and ProRes RAW, particularly when needing to go between NLEs like Resolve and FCPX?
