Scene-Referred on a Shoestring: Where to Prioritize for Indie Filmmakers?

Hey everyone,

I'm a 1st AC usually working on bigger sets (think AMIRA or V-RAPTOR XL), but I'm trying to produce my own short on a truly indie budget. I'm really keen on incorporating a Scene-Referred workflow for better post-production flexibility and color accuracy, even with tighter resources. The project is a character drama, mostly interiors, shot on an FX30.

My current thinking is that accurate monitoring is key, so I splurged a little on a decent calibrated monitor, and I'm using a simple grey card and color chart on set. I'm also really trying to nail exposure with a light meter. But I know Scene-Referred goes deeper than that.

For indie filmmakers with super tight budgets, where exactly should we prioritize our limited resources when trying to implement a Scene-Referred workflow? Are there any clever shortcuts or essential gear swaps (maybe alternative light sources to SkyPanels, or certain lens choices?) that can still get us 80% of the way there without breaking the bank? What makes the biggest impact on the final image for the least cost?
