VFX for Documentary
Hey all, Nelson Ford here. I'm helping a colleague crew up for an independent documentary series and we're looking for a talented VFX Artist. This project explores the unique stories of urban wildlife in NYC, focusing on the unexpected beauty and resilience of animals thriving in an urban environment. We're aiming for a tone that's both educational and visually compelling, using creative VFX to enhance archival footage and subtle environmental tweaks. We've shot a good chunk and need someone to help craft some specific visual elements. Key responsibilities include rotoscoping, green screen composting, motion tracking, and some basic 2D and 3D animation to create specific creature interactions and environmental enhancements. Think subtle, believable effects that integrate with our footage, not big explosions (unless you're really good at making pigeons look like they're flying through an explosion of breadcrumbs, then maybe). We're looking for someone mid-level, with a strong reel demonstrating your compositing and animation skills. Experience with After Effects, Nuke, or similar software is a must. If you have any specialized creature rigging or animation experience (even basic) that's a huge plus. Must be able to work on-site in New York, NY. This is a paid gig, $150-300 per day depending on experience and the specific tasks. The project has a flexible timeline and we anticipate needing someone for about 3-4 weeks of work spread over a couple months, starting in late summer. We'll provide all necessary footage and assets. Looking forward to seeing your work!
