Mid-Level VFX Artist, Social Justice Doc
Hey everyone, Nadine here. We're looking for a talented mid-level VFX artist for an upcoming independent documentary project. This is a powerful social justice doc, exploring environmental racism in a Quebec community. It's an important, sensitive story with a serious, impactful tone, and we're looking for someone who can help bring some specific visual elements to life in a subtle, organic way to enhance the narrative, not detract from it. Think more along the lines of atmospheric enhancements, compositing, and subtle environmental effects rather than big sci-fi explosions. Key responsibilities include creating and integrating visual effects shots, rotoscoping, matte painting, and potentially some motion graphics work. We need someone who can work independently and collaborate effectively with our small post-production team. You'll need your own workstation and software (Nuke, After Effects, or similar industry-standard tools). We're primarily looking for someone with at least 3-5 years of professional VFX experience, ideally on documentary or independent feature projects. A strong reel showcasing your best work and creative problem-solving skills is essential. Previous experience with environmental or nature-related effects would be a huge plus. This is a Montreal-based position, ideally for someone local, though remote work could be considered for exceptional candidates. The VFX phase is anticipated to start in late summer/early fall, with a flexible schedule averaging 20-30 hours a week for about 4-6 weeks, potentially longer. We're offering a daily rate of $150-300, negotiable based on experience. Please send your resume and a link to your reel to be considered. Thanks!
