Camera for Documentary

Documentary Camera Brooklyn, NY mid Budget: Revenue share

Looking for a skilled Camera Operator to join an independent documentary film project currently in pre-production. This film explores the underground world of competitive historical reenactment in the tri-state area, focusing on character-driven narratives and the unique community spirit. We're aiming for a vérité style, capturing intimate moments and dynamic action sequences with an authentic, fly-on-the-wall feel. Your primary role will be operating the primary camera, ensuring consistent quality and framing for interviews, b-roll, and action coverage. We need someone who can work efficiently, adapt to dynamic environments, and has a strong eye for visual storytelling. Basic lighting setup and audio monitoring will be a plus, but not the main focus. We're seeking a mid-level professional with at least 3-5 years of documentary or related field experience. You must own and be proficient with a cinema-grade camera package (e.g., Blackmagic, Sony FX series, Canon C series) with relevant lenses and support gear. A strong reel showcasing your documentary work is essential. This is a partnership opportunity, offering a share in the film's revenue (exact percentage to be discussed) as compensation. Shoot dates are flexible, a mix of weekdays and weekends, typically 8-10 hour days, primarily around Brooklyn, NY, and surrounding areas. We'll handle location permits, insurance, and initial travel costs beyond local transport.
