Senior Editor, Documentary Feature

Documentary Editing Los Angeles, CA senior Budget: Meals + copy

We're seeking an experienced Senior Editor for an independent documentary feature film. This project delves into the untold stories of forgotten communities, exploring themes of resilience and social change with a poignant, observational tone. It's a powerful narrative we believe will resonate deeply with audiences. Your primary role will be to craft a compelling story from extensive verite footage, collaborating closely with the director to shape the narrative arc. This involves assembly editing, refining pacing, selecting compelling soundbites, and contributing significantly to the overall creative vision. We're looking for someone with a strong sense of story and rhythm. Ideal candidates will have significant experience editing documentary features, a strong reel showcasing their narrative skills, and ideally, familiarity with Adobe Premiere Pro. While we won't be providing equipment, we expect you to have your own editing station and software. This is a volunteer position, but we'll cover your meals during working sessions and you'll receive a copy of the final film. Project dates are flexible, but we anticipate needing someone for approximately 10-12 weeks, around 20-30 hours per week, starting in late Spring/early Summer. We're based in Los Angeles, and ideally, you'd be able to work from your own setup, with regular check-ins and review sessions in person or virtually. If you're passionate about impactful storytelling and looking for a meaningful project to sink your teeth into, we'd love to hear from you.
