VFX Artist, Documentary Feature

Hey Chicago VFX folks, I'm Amara and I'm looking for a talented VFX artist to join my upcoming independent documentary feature. This isn't your typical talking-heads doc, it's a visually driven exploration of urban folklore, blending historical reenactments with stylized, magical realism elements. Think subtle, atmospheric enhancements rather than flashy explosions. Your primary responsibilities will include rotoscoping, compositing, green screen keying, and some light 3D motion graphics to elevate key sequences. We need someone who can bring a creative eye to these effects, integrating them to support the narrative. Experience with Nuke, After Effects, or similar industry-standard software is essential. Please have a portfolio or reel demonstrating your capabilities, especially any work on documentaries or projects with a more grounded aesthetic. We're open to all experience levels, from emerging artists to seasoned pros. This is a deferred compensation opportunity, with points in the film. While our production timeline is flexible, we anticipate post-production beginning in late summer/early fall. Work can mostly be done remotely, though some in-person meetings in Chicago may be necessary. I'm providing all source footage and any necessary assets. Looking forward to seeing your work!
