When Production Sound Goes Sideways: Your Dirtiest Saves?
Hey DIT fam, Terrence here. I just wrapped a feature where we had some wild audio challenges, and it got me thinking about how often we're patching up sound in post that should be clean. We had a scene shot on an AMIRA with Supreme Primes, and some key dialogue was constantly fighting background noise bleed or actors stepping on each other's lines. The sound mixer was doing their best with an 888 and MKH 8060, but stuff happens, especially on location.
In an ideal world, every line reading is perfect, and every take is pristine. But we all know 'continuity' in dialogue editing often means dealing with crazy overlaps, unexpected environmental leaks, or just plain messy recordings. What’s the messiest, real-world dialogue continuity scenario you’ve faced? And more importantly, what unconventional, not-by-the-book solutions did you employ that weren't strictly by-the-book but utterly saved the day?
