Balancing Theatrical Mix with Consumer Device QC - Help!

Hey everyone, I'm hoping to get some real-world advice here. I'm a location scout, and on this current documentary project, I'm also helping out with the initial audio passes. We shot primarily on an FX6 with an MKH 50 into a MixPre-6 II, and the raw tracks are clean.

I've got the mix sounding really good on my studio monitors. Dialog is clear, music has punch, and the ambiences sit nicely. However, when I QC it on my laptop speakers (a common recommendation I’ve seen), it just falls apart. The low-end completely disappears, and dialog gets muddy.

My primary concern is the theatrical release, so I absolutely don't want to compromise that. But how do you reconcile these two extremes? Do I just accept a slightly less-than-perfect laptop playback, or is there a way to adjust without ruining the theatrical experience?

What's your workflow for making these kinds of compromises? Is it just a matter of finding the 'least bad' option?
